Southern Folk Artist James “Squeakie” Stone Stopped By Today

I love the way the internet can bring people together, especially artists! Today I received an email from James “Squeakie” Stone, a self taught southern folk artist from South Carolina. He complimented me on my art(always love that - lol), and asked me to take a look at some of his. While he was not present at Slotin Folk Fest this year, his artwork was, and I think I recognize seeing his style there.
I love and can really relate to “Squeakie’s” subjects for his art, myself being from the South. His paintings depict life in this part of the country from way back. “Rooster” would have to be one of my favorites just because it’s obvious I love chickens! “Hot Tomatoes” reminded me of what I’ve not had the chance to do this year, plant okra for canning. There’s always next year! In his painting “Cotton Pickin’”, “Squeakie” captures the blazing hot sun beating down on the women in the field.
“Squeakies” wildlife paintings are truly a joy to look at. The perfect camouflage of a buck is captured in his wildlife painting “Invisible Deer” , while a calm evening flight is portrayed in “White Egret”. Many creatures come out to frolic in the snow in front of a cozy cabin in his folk art painting “Winter Cardinal”
If you can’t click the links in my post, you can still find “Squeakie’s” work at poppyarts.com, looking under original artwork and original artists for James “Squeakie” Stone.
